There has been a paradigm shift in the way we consume content on the internet. First, it is the evergreen written format (articles, stories) which still rule the internet, followed by audio (podcasts) which also exist in 2019 but it is the video content which has been the rage for more than a decade. And now, after the advent of smart phones & fast internet service, there has been a surge of apps offering content in the shorter video format. And in this digital age, where every app is vying to stay relevant in the game and be THE user’s choice app, one needs to have an edge over others. In a bid to further expand its pan-India existence and massive following, Singapore-based, BIGO Technology Pte. Ltd. has rebranded its short video app LIKE to Likee to transform and add more value to its offerings for users and content creators. This is another move by BIGO, one of the fastest growing Singapore-based internet companies dedicated to technology & innovation.
This move of changing the name is line with BIGO’s commitment to the India market, which is to invest over $100 million for its business in the country, over a span of the next three years like app.
